I use all three. I have Windows on one of my machines that I use occasionally for gaming. I use Macs for work since that’s what all my corporate machines comes with and I daily drive Linux and use it for all my home servers.

Not trying to dismiss your sufferings but I still think our generation had it way better than our grandparents, and probably better than 90% of the people in the world if you live in an advanced economy. For instance my grandfather went through the bloodiest war in human history, a bloody civil war, and a famine that killed millions of people. The problem right now is getting all the negative information that you have no control over from the internet, that’s why I stay away from tuning into any news these days.
Informative tech content. I’m right leaning but more towards the center so I don’t agree with everything he says politically speaking, but I have no issues viewing his content since at the end of the day he’s still libertarian and anti-establishment. I also have no problems holding conversations with the anarcho socialists on lemmy, because at the end of the day they’re also not advocating for more control over my life, we just have disagreements on the technical details of how society should work.
I use a roll reverser app on my macbook to get around this problem. You can configure touchpad to be natural and mouse to be traditional
I hate meta and I actually went out of my way to get my family and friends off of their platforms, but in this case I don’t think they’re in the wrong. Even if we roll with the logic that they should be paying for these links, then what is wrong with them deciding to not profit off of the links now by not showing them? Isn’t that the right thing to do?
It seems to me the news agencies and the Canadian government just wants extra revenue, and when their plan didn’t go as expected they’re now just crying and bit**ing about facing consequences of their actions.
My mom is tech illiterate and I buy all her devices for her. If I gave her a Mac she’ll just use it without knowing what OS it is.
As a Canadian I approve this message
There are dual hose variations. I think Hisense and Whynter sells them here in the US. If you can find them you should always go for those.
“Strong opinions loosely held”
Implying you should have the courage to fight for what you believe is right but not hold onto them once you’re proven wrong.
I learned this as a company culture thing from one of my previous employers and not sure if there’s another source for it. I did not like that employer very much in the end but this quote has been stuck with me since and I live by it.
Stop pretending to be Americans, y’all are not even using freedom units /s
Not at all. RHEL is still the standard in my field of work and I’m not seeing that going away any time soon. So it makes sense for me to stay in the ecosystem for career development. If I see any evidence of future changes in Fedora that compromises privacy or security I might change my mind.

To each their own. Ideally no company should have those data that can be used for spying by any government. But if I have to choose, I personally fear government overreach more than anything else. We can agree to disagree here.
so war hasn’t broken out, what’s your point? Last time I checked China still isn’t able to send agents to my house to arrest me, but folks here are getting misreported for CSAM to the feds by google scanning their pictures without consent.
I’m glad that you brought up the problem of foreign propaganda. I firmly believe the government shouldn’t be there to tell me what kind of views I can and cannot see. Some exceptions already exist such as blatant calls for violence which we already have clear guidelines on. Other than that, government is in no place to regulate speech. What’s the point of beating Russia and China when we become just like them?
Well I don’t use TikTok and couldn’t care less if they get banned. If you actually read the bills that’s getting passed like the RESTRICT act in the US you’d realize it’s not about banning TikTok and it has numerous vague and concerning clauses that infringes on your privacy. My opinion is always have better privacy laws and enforce it equally on all companies. When my government blatantly tries to steal more of my data and pretend they’re actually doing me a favor I’d rather the foreign adversary have it for free.
This is actually what I wanted to say to a lot of people. During peace times, allowing a foreign adversary stealing your data is a lot less damaging to your personal freedoms than your own government stealing your data. We need to be wary every time when our own government tries to tries to introduces surveillance laws under the disguise of “national security”.
librewolf is hardened firefox out of the box. If you want to harden firefox yourself or use user.js from arkenfox you can achieve the same end result.
I daily drive Fedora because RHEL is what my industry uses and it’s good to stay on top of the technology.
