I didn’t say that “poverty makes them criminals” was wrong. I know it is true. Was trying to think what it would get to take an alt right’s vote.

There are many ways to address immigration. And not all of them consist on not letting people in.
You can take in consideration what the average person thinks about immigrants and fix that:
I’m gonna try and think outside the box instead of the normal “it’s poverty that makes them criminals! They need better social support” which is probably true, but won’t convince the far right voters to vote for you.
The first one is the easiest to solve of the two. Since in most western countries, immigrants coming to work is actually good for the economy, since the native population has a declining birth rate and is aging, so they need working people that don’t come from births (immigrants). But you can still:
I know 2/3 of those treat immigrants as “lower” people, but it’s still better than illegal immigration or don’t letting them in.
For the second one, the main problem is that 1st generation immigrants are not the issue, but their children are. Because their children were born in that country so most of the time they’re citizens and you can’t just deport them like 1st generation. The only way I can think of to fix this is don’t give them citizenship until they’ve passed an actually hard exam that shows they’ve integrated into the culture, and have a clean record. They would be “2nd class citizens” at that point. 2nd class and normal citizens are legally the exact same, with only one difference. If a 2nd class has children after having committed a crime, their children are also 2nd class. If they have a clean record, it is assumed that they have integrated in the local culture and their children are born as normal citizens.
These ideas probably have a thousand things i didn’t consider, but I believe they’re better than not letting immigrants in.
Plenty of countries with monarchies have constitutions.
Banks are a bunch of dicks anyway. I recently received a ToS that forced me to have all my OSs on their latest update, and never install anything that doesn’t come from official stores.
Next day all of my money was in another bank.
Some people still do. Fuck Jhon Deere.
I use KDE on my Linux machine, which means that I cannot develop anything involving the GPU.
The moment I experiment a little with the API or give it wrong parameters, not only my program crashes, but the whole system freezes and I have to manually press the “power off” button.
It does happen in windows too, however it’s 100x less unlikely.
I also had a problem not long ago that crashing my program would not free the RAM, so every time I ran the program (and it crashed), I had 2-3GiB less of RAM. So I had to restart the computer every 10 runs or so.
Operating systems are supposed to isolate programs and manage their resources. A program crashing under no circumstances should affect any other program. I don’t understand how it can happen.
Oh no guys! An F-bomb is about to explode! Better take cover!
Honestly, I didn’t even consider this as possible. I’m saving the post in case I’m very bored and want to do it.
Any editor that support LSP has the same (or better) auto complete. All IDEs also have the same (or better) auto complete, don’t even need LSP.
I meant native as in non-web. There are plenty of cross-platform GUI toolkits out there that don’t use JavaScript. Some of them native-looking even. But more than the looks, it’s about performance.
I feel like browser support is such a niche. I don’t understand why many IDEs dedicate so many resources to make it work on the browser. There are already many options to code on the web if you need it.
Why would they copy VSCode including the aspect people hate most.
Had they made it in a native gui I might actually consider it. Otherwise, why wouldn’t I just choose vscode.
This synthetic benchmark is nice a general wisdom thing. But I’d love a more complete analysis taking into account loading from memory, caches, SIMD, CPU pipeline and all of that.
Probably when taking all those things into account (specially loading values from memory) the performance difference of a div and a mult should be negligible.
That’s easy to explain. EGS managed to make everyone hate them just as it started. How do they expect to be profitable if they piss off the entire market?
There are other stores such as GoG that have actual users.
Good old Russian propaganda.
Can the average north Korean read though?
Docs should be written for someone experienced in programming but inexperienced with the API. If it is about a niche subject (for example VR).
Whenever an explanation contains something about that niche subject, you don’t need to explain everything, but maybe provide a link towards another place (for example wikipedia) that explains it.
Untyped function definitions + *args + *kwargs + args that can be of many types + strings used as enums don’t help. The language that imo needs the most documentation is at the same time the one that lacks it the most.
You don’t need to have wired across the room. You can put them through the wall like every other cable. If the wire tubes are not full, it isn’t very complicated. I put my Ethernet wires in the wall.
I don’t see why nanny-state can’t be nanny about cops. You can both apply speed limiters and hold cops accountable for their actions.
