AMA used to be a pretty big draw for lots of people who didn’t regularly use the site and often made international news, but they fucked that right up.

Yeah, this IPO will probably go just fine and a bunch of wankers will make a bunch of money. That’s what it’s all about, after all.
I’d probably try something similar if I could, I’m not in the US though.
I’m guessing it’ll do pretty well, at least initially. There’s got to be a whole lot of investors out there who just want to get in on the new big tech IPO and still jump in. I’m not convinced the WSB crew will really move the dial. Yeah it’d be an amusing and salutary lesson if the IPO shits the bed but I can’t see it happening. I’m no expert tho!
They’ve had investors who were willing to pay into a loss-making company. Could be that they sold investors on the idea that it will be profitable at some point in the future but it needs to be funded while it grows. Could also be that the value they see in it is not just financial - the ability to influence opinion, harvest data, stuff like that.
Why on earth would they give those sweet pre-IPO shares up to the unwashed masses if they thought there was even a remote chance the IPO would at least break even?
I suspect it’s because they’re worried that their users are going to short them and encourage others to do the same, so they’re trying to get them involved and committed. They don’t want WSB causing shit. My guess is that the share prices will do pretty well, at least initially. There are plenty of ignorant investors who want to get in on the next big tech stock. Just a guess though, I don’t know enough about this stuff to invest in stocks myself.
When I was a kid in the 70s, a lurker was a turd that had failed to flush away properly. As in : “Dad left a big beefy lurker in the toilet again.” How language changes.
Yeah, and you can’t use karma as a good metric for determining relevance or accuracy. I contributed ten years of mostly fairly good quality posts but my highest rated was a joke about gangbangs.
I live in the UK, I’ve only ever driven manuals. I know one or two people with automatics, wouldn’t fancy having one myself though. I feel like the manual shift gives me more control.
“It’s God’s will!”
I am still furious about Brexit on a personal level. Freedom of movement was amazing. It meant that I could just decide to go live and work in an EU country whenever I wanted. I had previously used this to spend a couple of years in Spain and maybe a year in France. I’d been planning a move to Portugal when Brexit took this away from me. All those opportunities gone because of dumb fuckers who didn’t even realise we had them. Ignorant bigoted wankers. Goes without saying I voted remain. I’d be delighted to rejoin, and if it means we adopt the euro that’s fine with me. It won’t happen for at least a decade though, and at my age that’ll be too late for me.
I bought the old homeworld games. I remember really enjoying them way back when, and the third game finally comes out in 24 so I thought I’d give them a play through to catch up. Still good.
I just need a note platform that I can feel sure will still be accessible in a few years time. I don’t mind paying for a service that’s valuable to me but evernote’s prices were a bit much and their constant pestering became annoying. I switched to Google keep - which, given that I wanted something that will last, may have been a mistake.
It is not a terrorist organization to go out and cause terror and trouble.
Did you not notice the events that started this recent shit? Hamas certainly engages in terrorism, as does the IDF.
Interestingly, the answer from bard sounds like it could be true. I don’t know shit about fluid dynamics but it seems pretty plausible.
Doesn’t seem fair that some people get paid so well for fucking up so badly.
Yeah, old games often get overlooked but they kind of laid the foundations for much of what we had today. I remember spending a lot of time on elite, back in the 80s. It seemed so impressive back then, and really it was an achievement considering the hardware was BBC micro computers.
Homeworld. Really effective soundtrack, heightened tension and the feeling of being out in empty space.
So completely overlooking the overlying political situation and just thinking about this incident - it’s fuckin horrible.
I’ve been at a whole lot of techno parties back in the day and just imagining these events triggers a real wince in my soul. Remember being off your head at a really good party with your mates and your partner and then imagine this shit happening. I mean, a fuckin rave is pretty much the opposite of a military target.
I’m thinking there’s a lot of criticisms to make on both sides of this conflict and a lot of comments here are focusing on that and overlooking the fucking horror of this incident right here.
Yeah, turned out I was actually more loyal to the app I was using than I was to the platform. Though I was also pretty good to the platform, I contributed and interacted daily and often spent money buying gold. I tend to take the attitude that if I’m getting a lot of use out of something I don’t mind spending a little to support it. That’s all in the past now and I wonder how many other paying users they burned.
