I’ve dealt with this too from an anti-vaxxer. It’s really frustrating when you can’t even agree on a common source for the data being discussed.
With this person, every source I told them I got my information from was wrong or biased - yet that same rebuttal from me about their sources were loudly talked over and/or the goal posts were moved.
but now we have a scapegoat
Damn at just 5 ft most of southern Louisiana is completely submerged. And these are probably not the wealthiest people so where do they go? Do they live in FEMA trailers further in land? Do we as a country have a contingency plan for this ? I doubt it but I hope I’m wrong.
I mean there probably are enough homes to help these people but that may cut into Blackrock’s rental profit so that’s out of the question…
The more I look at this map the more overwhelmed I get at the number of people that will be displaced at just 5 ft.
Where does Florida Man ™️ go when his trailer is underwater? Is he now Georgia Man or Mississippi Man?
This is a migration that I don’t think people want
If I’m having a conversation with someone and they start looking at their phone while I’m talking, I just stop talking and stare at them. More than a few times I’ve been told “keep going I’m listening” I don’t, I just let them finish and only start talking again when the set the phone down.
It’s very passive aggressive but it does make the other person feel a bit uncomfortable.
That’s part of it but the deeper question is why are people more sedentary? Why do people eat more often?
What is it about our society that promotes eating more processed foods?
My feelings are that food for many people is a sedative for a stressful life. Sugar is a great drug to make you feel good temporarily.
Then there is very little quality education around good nutrition and cooking in the US. Most people just take what the learned from their parents and go with it. And if their parents weren’t food smart then they probably will not be either.
there is a lot more to the obesity epidemic than just “stop eating so much”
As others have said this purchase didn’t really fuck up his overall lifestyle.
Yet when the topic of raising taxes on these people comes up they all freak out, like if they have to pay an extra 20% on their wealth they will be living on the streets.
Yep. I think “The Road” by Cormack McCarthy is probably the closest to what a post-apocalyptic world would look like and that shit is bleak.
The few wealthy people I’ve met, not billionaires but $100+ millionaires, seem to have a limited skill set. They have “people” to do the work. I’ve always wondered how they would fair in a post-apocalyptic world?
Personally I’d rather have those people that can MacGuyver a solution out of rubber bands and mud.
All this to say that ol’ Zuck should probably hire some good ol’ boys/girls to do his work for him or he’s screwed.

I’ve noticed that as well. Its like YouTube is adding in extra ads for Roku et al. for their own profit…
The total cost for the Afghanistan and Iraq wars was $8 Trillion over 20 years This country has the money it just doesn’t the leadership that wants to change. And why would they want to change? The way this country runs work$ well for them.
One problem is that a great deal of correct security advice contradicts “common knowledge” security practices. Password character classes – “must include capitals, lowercase, numbers, and symbols” – are a standard example. That idea got rooted in security requirements for banks and such, and it was a bad idea even then.
I don’t know a lot about computer security - but must include capitals, lowercase, numbers, etc seems like a good idea, why is it not?
While not the only reason but it seems that low fiber foods (highly processed) contribute more calories to the body than high fiber foods.
Maybe that’s where I get this idea from living with an ADD brain… Because I get what you’re saying a very personal level
Most jobs already feel that way. I’m not really talk about punishment from a boss but the impacts on you life/health over the long term if you just decide to not do the work.
What does your life look like if you decide to not pursue a big goal?
But honestly congratulations on your success. Seriously that’s some good shit you did for yourself!

True. But the people advocating for these laws don’t want to deal with nuance and compromise on what it would take to have a society where you educate people on sex in a healthy and positive way. These prohibitionists see the world as either bad or good - nothing in between. Good (how ever they decide to define it) must win no compromises, and the weapon that they use is unfounded fear of the bad and it works.
And the reason fear works is because it is easy and visceral and reality’s complexity doesn’t work for media’s need for sound bites.
