I used to find these with my cousin all the time in central Illinois and 40 years ago (ugh, how is that possible?)… Haven’t seen one in a very long time though.

Yes, happens quite often and not just with coffee, but also soda cups.
Typically it’s lotion and my wife is allergic to Bath & Body Works lotions and has had full blown asthma attacks from a cup being handed into our car.
Good thing water and electricity can’t be used to harm kids.
I have a 3 year old MacBook that runs my local LLM and Image Generator. I read this article from the perspective that the new PC chips would be for people who want to run their AI locally, but I suppose you’re right, Microsoft is going to push their Copilot as hard as possible.
I saw once in the wild last week and it was wrapped in silver vinyl. That seems like a necessity for these trucks.
This was the one I was drawn to as well… The irreverent goat hauling an idol of Baphomet stuck dead center in the middle of all these other crazy motherfuckers, feeling like he’s the most normal one of the bunch.
“But, if I’m the most normal… I’m scared to death of society.”
But don’t worry, the service isn’t changing… they are just charging more because they can.
Yeah, sorry if I came across as aloof, I do know that it’s tough out there, but I do believe that most people come out ahead after a layoff. But there are still many others who don’t, and I do recognize just how lucky I am.
Hang in there… It took me 3 months to find a job and I worked my ass off every day of those 3 months sending out resumes, reworking my resumes, doing applications, having interviews with headhunters (which I’m retrospect was likely a waste of time since they really didn’t do anything for me).
I certainly didn’t want to come off as sounding like getting laid-off was easy, because it was an extremely stressful time of my life, buy I do think back on those 3 months and how I would have liked to have been doing literally anything else other that marketing myself.
And I will say that as a social network LinkedIn is shit, but it does seem to be a good place for job hunting. Make your profile look like someone they’d want to hire, and then try to be that person on the interview (and maybe even the first few months on the job, of you can).
I was laid-off in 2022 and got a pretty nice severance, and my new job pays 40% more. I wish I had known how relatively quickly I was going to find another job because I would have enjoyed my time off a lot more. I personally don’t know anyone who has been laid-off and ended up worse off.
I’ve never had one work and no longer even try.
“If they meet specs” is the important thing, and unfortunately that’s hard to know, though that $0.99 cable at the gas station isn’t going to cut it.
Edit: I can’t believe I forgot Baskets. That show is a masterpiece.
There are a few shows I’d rate higher: Breaking Bad (although it had it’s share of ‘throw away’ episodes), Reservation Dogs, Battlestar Galactica (so many throw away episodes), The Newsroom, and Deadwood. I think Deadwood would be my highest ranking, especially for writing and acting.
Obviously I’m sure plenty of examples can be given for why Six Feet Under is better than each of the shows I’ve listed, but that’s the beauty of subjective lists!
My wife and I just finished the finale tonight, and it was a great ending. Very little ambiguity, real closure, and an emotionally appropriate song.
But, I think it is far from “the best TV show”. It may have been “the best” for a TV drama when it came out because it was groundbreaking, but the acting and writing at times could be pretty bad (so many dropped plots with no follow-up or consequences). It also went on for far too long, which was a consequence of having to create 12 episodes per season, each the same length.
It’s worth watching, but I’d give it a 7.8/10.
Where do you get your Adderall? I’ve tried talking to my doctor about it and he just says that I’m trying to take on too much, but I feel like I’ve been able to accomplish almost nothing this year.
Also, please share your fanfic when you’ve gotten it recorded.
Next month: Rite Aid sells to new company, Right Eh’d.
The best raise you can get is by changing jobs. Businesses are not going to be loyal to you, there’s no benefit to being loyal to them - add either a customer or employee. Embrace and welcome change.
When you get a pay raise immediately increase your 401k (or equivalent retirement fund) by at least 1%.
Enjoy your 20s, they don’t last long but the person you are today is who you will feel like you are in 20 years. Don’t rush your life. There’s plenty of time to get married and have kids. You and your kids will benefit from you having an extra decade of experience before raising another human.
