Because for some reason the anti WhatsApp crowd fails to understand that the majority of the people using WhatsApp would lose any social life if they just uninstalled. It’s always the same. “Just don’t use WhatsApp!”. I’d literally not communicate with any of my family. I’d be the one weirdo that doesn’t use WhatsApp and that then maybe gets invited to things if somebody remembers to call me or write me a text message.

This worked for me you just need to be careful to use your wi-fi device. I have a 2022 G15 which has the same wifi chip so for me, even though I don’t have a Framework, it worked exactly as described in the guide.

Also there is no shame in trades. I’ve met far too many engineers who became product managers because engineering is boring. Only software developers actually work “with their hands”. They just also do the engineering part before that. You might be really into soldering or building stuff for your garden or 3D printing your own cad designs but somebody else will do the actual building part. You’ll not create something start to finish. And if that’s what you’re into, you’ll probably be more successful at a trade with the knowledge that an engineer has (at least partially) than an engineer who wished he could actually get dirty.

At least in Germany trades offer an extensive educational track where you can further develop your skills and actually have the paper that says that you are more than blue color physical labor. If you look around here in my area at suburbs, a lot of the properties have while vans in front of it. A self employed electrician (for example) can be incredibly successful financially.

On top of that, if trump would have been killed, there is technically nothing stopping the US from postponing elections, coming up with an intermediate solution to have a functioning government without a D. president (like, no appointing of judges and such) and then have an election next year when the Republicans had enough time to find a new candidate.

If trump pushes through the things he said he’d do and what his supporters are supporting like project 2025, there’s a real chance that there are no actually democratic elections in 2028. And this is ignoring the fact that gerrymandering and the electoral college are already questionable and regularly abused by or benefit Republicans the most.

That’s not a git thing though. You can totally have multiple remotes and the remotes are just git repositories themselves. Git is 100% decentralized. There is technically nothing stopping you from having multiple remotes.

Yes but then you are half a percent of the user base that a new phone manufacturer would want to attract. And in Germany at least it is literally impossible to have a social life outside of the nerd bubble if you don’t use WhatsApp.

I don’t think this is the case here. Like, this is dead on arrival in most of Europe without WhatsApp. My phone is my most important device. I cannot access my bank account without it. But banks will not allow me to use that phone as a factor for authentication.

5 or 10 years ago you could have forced those companies to either support something third party or develop for a new phone os but now we are stuck with android and ios until something really messed up happens to our economy or until one of them really fucks up and gets into legal trouble to a point where they can’t sell phones or services anymore.

You need to spend a lot of money for a gaming laptop to be good. The are really a compromise if you absolutely cannot have a PC where you are. Especially now with the steam deck.

If you need fractional scaling, they are unusable blurry. Some screens just need fractional scaling so for those setups it’s almost essential to do this.

You need fractional scaling it your resolution is very high compared to the screen size. So something like a 15 inch 1440p screen would need 150% or 125% scaling because 100% is too small, 200% is too large but with anything in between, xwayland apps are blurry af.
